A Rosh Hashona Message

One of the prayers: Nations shall not lift up swords against nations, neither shall they know war anymore.

We read that yesterday. And then we listened to the Israeli Counsel General who was worshipping at the Synagogue my daughter belongs to, where I used to belong. We talked about the dysfunction of family, and then we thought about the broader sense of family. And it comes down to this:

Nations shall not lift up swords against nations,
Neither shall they know war anymore.

I ask for peace.

Amen. Let's hope peace can finally prevail. And let's hope that the people who decide if and when we go war develop sense in their heads.

And in regards to the Transition lenses, they darken plenty for BabyGirl in the car and I don't notice her squinting or covering her eyes with her hands. Also, my mom has them, and she loves them, although she does have a small pair of "clip-on" darker lenses that fit on top of her Rx glasses that she uses for driving in winter because the sun reflecting off of our Ohio snow is very blinding.... but that might not be an issue for you in California, although the sun can be blinding, I'm sure.

Let there be peace on earth - and let it begin with me. I so wish that people really listened to what they said when talking to god. Shalom, my friend.

Can we demand peace? How much longer must the killing continue before someone asks, is this making us a better nation and better people? If a soldier is killed in war today, what was the purpose of his losing his life?

I think there's been a war raging somewhere on earth probably every day of my life. I wish it were not so. When will we not know war anymore? I don't know. A beautiful prayer, divajood. If only...

Let it begin with all of us.

The son of one of my friends is now in Kuwait awaiting transport for a second tour in Iraq. His wife and infant daughter are not pleased.
