Coming up for air

Dear Gentle Readers - I apologize for being scarce. Really, for not being around at all. It's so easy to hide with Facebook, as there are games (Mob Wars, Scrabble) to distract - and that's what I do.

Income has been scarce since I went independant, and finally I filed for Unemployment. It looked like I was going to lose my condo, but on 12/31, Countrywide sent me a re-worked deal that saves my home and I will be able to meet the mortgage payments. It's quite amazing, really. But in the meantime, I am trying to find a steady job to suppliment me while I try to build my business.

I've never seen an economy this bad. It hasn't been this bad since the Depression, actually, and it hasn't bottomed yet. Nevertheless, I have hope for our future. Without hope, there's no reason to exist.

It has been hard, really difficult and I won't pretend otherwise. The end result for me is that I tend to isolate and really circle the wagons. And I am grateful to all of you who check in from time to time - eventually I will be able to get back to this more regularly but right now, it's all I can do to just keep above ground. Please continue to check in; email works (jkblue AT cox DOT net is the email). Lots of love to you all.

Oh Jood- I have missed you. I myself have been awash in holiday activity, work - ack, the curse and blessing of employment, school starting up and all sorts of things.

In any event I have not checked in but I have had you on my heart more than you would know.

I get the isolation bit. It is hard.

Know that you are thought of with much care from these parts. Glad to see this here.

Good to see you! I was getting worried, and I'm so sorry to hear about your financial woes. I'm glad you were able to work out your mortgage and keep your condo.

Best wishes for 2009!

I hear ya! May be looking for work myself in a couple of months--couple of projects on the back-burner but neither are paying...yet.

Good luck with the business. The Frogette has been at her's for a almost two years now, and the money is only trickling in.

Missed you & wondered what was going on with you! You know we are here anytime you feel like saying something. I know exactly what you mean about the economy being so depressing, it crowds out all other thought. That's good news about the condo refi at least. Stay well, Diva. Big Hugs to Beanie, too!

So glad you are back here. We have been so concerned/worried. Happy to hear of a workable solution on the mortgage. So many people are hurting - but know that you have a network of friends here.

Hopefully a turn around is coming soon. Keep your head up!

Jood... glad you're back. But buck up, my friend. These are tough times, now. You're right... "without hope, there's no reason to exist." I'll be sure to ding you on FB from time to time. It's about time I did something for our mob.

I will email you all the cool Nigerian cash offers I've received in the last month!

I'm glad to hear you were able to keep your house.

Be well.

So glad you're checking in. Good about the house. I think we will all have to get creative to keep food on the table and utilities paid. I'm seriously delinquint on property taxes, but what are you gonna do? I pay what I can.

So relieved to hear from you.

Ok, you've had enough air...get back here.

great to check your blog and see you! am glad you saved the house - we are also pretty besieged here for a variety of reasons. most of which i could blame on reagan and bush. and frankly, i have had it up to HERE reading abt all the damn bail-outs! what abt those of us trying to be fiscally responsible with our tiny plots of earth?! (as you can tell, i can still work up a good rage!)

and i want to be careful to temper my optimism - obama has inherited the biggest stinkpot on the planet......

You're here, you're here, you're here. A belated welcome back.

First, everything WeezieLou said.

Next, let us all be supportive of our new president and vice president and recognize that we need a lot of patience as they try to clean up eight years of shit.

Who saw Joe Biden's farewell adress to the Senate? As I listened to one of the most amazing political speeches I ever heard, I thought, "Is it true? We're finally going to have great orators leading our country?"

In 2001, The Onion printed a satiric article entitled, "Bush: 'Our Long National Nightmare Of Peace And Prosperity Is Finally Over'" The essay turned out to be less satiric than I originally thought.

Best to all...

Sorry to hear about your hardship, but you aren't alone, if that's any consolation.

Who thought we'd ever see this kind of economy? ; (

and terrible leadership? ; (

Cycles come and go, and let's hope the world is going in the positive direction starting in another day or so......

My best as always!
