My cousin's project

My cousin has been working on this project for a while - she's a therapist, a wonderful woman, someone we all look to in our family as being the heart and soul. She married into the family and we embraced her immediately, because she's who she is. This project helps lift one more layer of the shroud of silence around child abuse, telling boys that it is okay to seek help if they've been abused. Apparently it is much harder for boys to come forward than it is for girls. The billboards are around SoCal, and I am intensely proud of her and her work.

Your cousin is doing such good work. I wish her all the best, it's a very tough job.

I second that. Difficult to imagine having to deal with something like that and our culture contributes to the silence: if you want to be a manly man, keep your mouth shut. To be a womanly woman, keep your mouth shut. Ridiculous.

Robin, she is amazing.

Randal, it actually is harder for boys to admit abuse. This project is actually seeing results.

If you read my novel Diva you will see the abused boy who grew up to abuse me. It's the gift that keeps on giving. Girls so often self destruct and boys tend to act out their own abuse over and over.
