Waiting

I'm impatient. I lack patience. I hate to wait. And, as my kids like to point out, I have a knack for being repetative. However. I am impatient.

Right now, I am waiting to get a biopsy scheduled, and you'd think it would take an act of Congress for this hospital to get off the dime and schedule it. I've been waiting for almost two weeks now. Until biopsy is done, the doctor can't perscribe anything for PBC as we don't know appropriate dosage. In the meantime, I've been responding badly to the weather, nausea and, new symptom, severe dizziness. It makes it difficult to be consistent blogging - I find it difficult to visit other blogs because my concentration sucks. I find it difficult to even keep up with my own blog. And, worse, it is difficult to concentrate at work and the result is I missed a deadline for some clients for a shore excursion that is now sold out - and there is potential hell to pay.

So I am stressed out because of this, and that makes all the above even worse. So I become even more impatient. So I feel like this:

Sounds like you need the assistance of a professional nag. My sister and I do that for one another. When one is sick, the other one nags the medical profession on a daily basis if necessary to get the needed care. Can you solicit one of your kids to enter into the exciting field of medical nagging?

Life sure can toss nasty stuff for us to deal with. Even if the news are bad, I still like to hear how your battle is going, being a fellow suferer myself.

The unfairness of it all just is an icing on the bitter cake. Why does it happen so often to those of whom take care of themselves and generally speaking live healthy life styles? When I am at my worst, just the way I have been the past month or so, my feeling is if I were all alone. The ability to communicate is just not there, your world closes on you and all you have is your damn dizzy spells and nausea. Your present inability to do heavy duty blogging is more than acceptable. However, you unfortunately will face more and more situations when that sort of understanding is totally absent. It is a tough journey for you, and I hope your obvious strenght, wisdom and sense of humor enables you to sustain reasonably good quality of life. "Lowered expectations", was a segment in the Saturday Nigh Live (?) a long time ago but it could as well be my motto now, perhaps even yours.

Hang in there, dear Diva!

Good luck on scheduling , and even better luck on the outcome.

I agree with Mary - get yourself a backup nag - we all need it from time to time.

Oh, and I have TONS of patience. I've never used a bit of it, so I have saved up every ounce I was given at birth!

I've been worried about you, divajood. I was hoping that your symptoms hadn't worsened. I wish I could help in some way. I do like Peacechick mary's idea about having someone else do your nagging for you. I've intervened like that for my sister. Is there anyone who can take over and give someone hell on your behalf? I hope so. In the mean time, please take care.

Couldn't you just choke the life out of some of those medical people? You know they'd knock themselves out getting it done for their brethren or themselves. Other people just don't matter outside the envelope anymore. Well...good luck on the bureaucracy and hope you soon have an appointment and some relief...you deserve it.

Primary biliary cirrhosis? Is that it? Doesn't sound fun. If it is, just in case:

It is recommended that patients with PBC take a multivitamin supplement without minerals to increase the dietary intake of fat-soluble vitamins. If the quantities of bile acids flowing through the bile ducts to the gut are marginal, intestinal absorption of the fat-soluble vitamins may not be adequate, even with supplements. Two strategies exist for this situation. First, patients can take Liqui-E with meals. Liqui-E is an over-the-counter liquid preparation of vitamin E that also increases the absorption of other fat-soluble vitamins in the diet or in multivitamin preparations.

From the Talking Heard
Crosseyed and Painless

Facts are simple and facts are straight
Facts are lazy and facts are late
Facts all come with points of view
Facts dont do what I want them to
Facts just twist the truth around
Facts are living turned inside out
Facts are getting the best of them
Facts are nothing on the face of things
Facts dont stain the furniture
Facts go out and slam the door
Facts are written all over your face
Facts continue to change their shape

Im still waiting...Im still waiting...Im still waiting...
Im still waiting...Im still waiting...Im still waiting...
Im still waiting...Im still waiting...

So sorry you have to wait. Thinking of you Jood

Diva,
The advice you have been given is excellent. I have one more piece to add. If you are able, call your doctor and tell them that you are having a patient advocate added to your HIPPA so that they can obtain all information about your medical records. Tell your doctor you are taking the necessary steps to have a friend or family member help you because your medical condition has worsened due to lack of treatment, and you are now in a weakened state and have an inability to conduct your life in a semi-normal manner. You are losing your ability to make a living, and you need medical treatment. This will get you to the head of the que. Let me know if I can help.

Biggest hugs and warmest wishes ever.

Hello Jood,

So sorry you're going through this. Life is hard and so unfair sometimes.

I hope you get good news soon. I'll be keeping you in my thoughts. Take care.

Uh-oh, it's Friday, and there's no pic of the Beanie. I hope you're okay there. Just wanted to let you know I'm thinking of you.

thank you everybody for your kind words, thoughts and suggestions. I have to admit that I laughed out loud at Peace Chick's suggestion. Both my kids think I AM a professional nag, so there.

Spado, thanks for the song.

In general, when I am under severe stress at work, all my symptoms are worse - we're in "wave season" which is an odd term for the fact that the travel industry is insanely busy at this time of year; I had a major problem to solve which involved the relatives of one of my managers; and I am still waiting.

ARGH.
