Journeys: of the mind, heart, soul. Also, pack your bags, grab your passport, and hit the road. Politics, art, travel, humor, meanderings, whatever comes to mind.
I so love Eva Cassidy. Her rendition of Fields of Gold makes me cry. She really developed a new message with the way she sang that song. Rest in Peace, Eva. Thank you Jood. It is so beautiful.
I'm back my friend! And I'm ready to kick some ass! I'm finally back on a regular schedule. I took over my new position, and rattled some cages. Without a day off, I didn't have time to post. But I'm ready to hit it hard now. Everyone now knows I moved up, and they are either scared shitless, or happy about it.
I got to meet many, and most are still having shell shock from it. The younger crowd is running for cover now! It had the exact effect the Col. wanted. They like and fear me now. I wasn't exactly what they expected. Many sounded like they felt I was another flunky on the phone. But when I rolled in on them, they were tripping over their own feet! Five people quit over five days, and I had to write up someone every five days I was on.
I managed to get rid of some that the Col. was wanting to get rid of. Some of them, he tried to get rid of, but had to step lightly on it. I made them quit! They just gave up when I came on! Too funny! Lazy bastards are now on the run. The Capt. over me, has lung cancer, and I am a service disabled Veteran. Headaches are no longer a valid excuse to go home, or a reason to skip work.
I had one that looked like he was gonna puke when I got on him. I had to tell him
"Young man, if you throw up on me, I am not gonna be happy. Please run outside or to the bathroom. I don't have time to run and change my uniform, and I kinda like my badge to look clean."
I had never heard of her...she is gone?? RIP is says above...I am confused..and sad is she is gone- what a lovely haunting voice...I am going to go listen to some more...
A few years ago I discovered Eva Cassidy. I was driving the first time I listened to her sing and I had to pull my car to the side of the road; a flood of tears, a soul cleansing, is what I experienced. I own every CD she recorded. I cannot listen to her without tears welling, without heart swelling with love. Whenever I feel disconnected because of what life throws, it is her music I play. She brings me back to my universal humanness and its potential. She lifts me to my higher self. She was a gift to the world.
i absolutely love eva cassidy. i happened to discover her when my was quite ill with cancer in 2003. eva's songs carried me through that time, and continue to do so now. 'i know you by heart' is one of my favorites, as is her rendition of 'somewhere over the rainbow.' so haunting and lovely. thank you for posting this jood.
and best to you as you take some time away from blogging. it takes a lot from you, i know. but you, especially, have given so much. thank you for that as well.

It was pathetic!
i'd never heard eva cassidy - that was one of the most beautiful, haunting songs i've ever heard.
