Jerry Falwell dead at 73

Jerry Falwell died yesterday. He was co-founder of the "Moral Majority," which was neither. He brought the religious right into Politics. And here is his real legacy: Three of the Republican Candidates for President do not believe in evolution. That's right. Candidates Huckabee, Brownback and Tancredo reject evolution. The others seem to feel it's okay to teach both evolution and "intelligent design."

This is Falwell's true legacy: the embracing of ignorance.

AMF! The "A" is for adios and the MF stands for what it always stands for.

I bet you even the worms won't eat him.

We raised our wine glasses last night and bid our farewells to this most despicable man. I believe we said exactly the words that PoP wrote above. Adios indeed!

Do you have to make the picture so big?

I can't help it, everytime I read the statement that Falwell is dead, I feel just a bit giddy.

During a phone conversation yesterday I mentioned to Hubby that Falwell had died. Hubby, who was raised by uber-Evangelical Republican parents and who was having a pretty rough day said: "Wow, and to think, I thought this day was going to suck."
Says it all, no?

Diva,
I am spreading hope and prayers that a nice gay man will be in charge of flowers and Mr. Falwell's make-up for the funeral service.

While I was disgusted by the endless coverage the mainstream media gave to the death of Anna Nicole Smith, I think it's deliciously ironic that Falwell's death has received a mere fraction of the attention given to a semi-literate, drug addled nude model.

I hope his eternal slumber is tormented by lurid visions of an endless Tele Tubbie orgy.

Patricia: AMF is absolutely correct. He will NOT be missed by me.

Robin Andrea: I read one account where someone said "Falwell was found, and he had no pulse" and all I could think is that's because he had no heart.

Cheney08: Yes, I did. To show his fat head.

Peacechick: I know the feeling. I was there my own self.

Tina: Your hubby is hilarious. But yes, it sums it up.

Pursey: I swear, I agree completely. A LOVELY gay man in charge of embalming him is just such a nice thought.

Moe: I hadn't thought of that correlation to Anna Nicole's news coverage vs. this semi-literate, scientifically-challenged gas bag, but yes, it is wonderfully ironic. Maybe people will toss their Tele-Tubbies at him. Although, I must tell you, I find the Tele-Tubbies incredibly annoying.

Country music fans may continue to support Jerry Falwell's hateful interpretations of Christ's teachings. Fundamentally, they are nothing more than bullies who pick on the weak or politically disenfranchised. This has happened throughout history to women, the mentally ill, blacks, Jews, Catholics, and my own ancestors.

I notice that Yolanda King has been lost in the news. But Jerry was in the news! Hope he rots in hell.

Yoga, I love country music!

Betmo, this COMING Sunday? I'll have to watch. Bhutan is the next "hot" destination, and it's not too expensive. And I sure won't miss Falwell.

Donnie, you're right about Yolanda King. Only place I really saw anything was your place.

Sumo, indeed!
