Bush Tries to Console Tornado Victims

In a rare moment of astute awareness, Mr. Bush said it's a damn good thing these people got basements and took to 'em. But he chastized those people who either didn't have basements or didn't get to their basement in time. He went on to say "Them ijits who didn't get into a basement got themselves kilt by this big Tornado."

When asked why he was there, Bush said he came to Kansas to tour the wreckage in the hopes that he could “touch somebody’s soul by representing our country.”

Huh? I always thought that a President visited a disaster area to assess damage and to help expidite recovery by mustering the National Guard. But Bush did promise Gov. Kathleen Sebelius that he would “get whatever help is appropriate here … as quickly as possible.” Sorta like he did along the Gulf Coast and New Orleans two years ago, right? Heckuva job, Brownie.

“I don’t think there is any question that if you are missing trucks, Humvees and helicopters that the response is going to be slower,” Sebelius told reporters Monday. “The real victims here will be the residents of Greensburg because the recovery will be at a slower pace.”

Meanwhile, the cost of the Iraq war has topped $424,443,928,212.00 and rising. And at home, climate related natural disasters are also on the rise: stronger and earlier tropical storms (hurricane season actually begins in June); wildfires plague bone-dry California; honeybees are dying off, affecting our food supply. I could go on, but what's the point? Our nation's resources are all tied up in Iraq - are we still looking for WMDs there? Personally, I think the Weapons of Mass Destruction are in the White House. But George W. Bush has the arrogance to think he can touch people's soul as he makes his cursory visit to Kansas.

Makes me sick.

He took a chainsaw and chopped up the last standing two-by-four for a photo-op to show how he was chipping in to remove the fugging debris. Touch their souls, I hope they chanted and burned sage when he left. When he said, "they have a great opportunity to rebuild their community with a better footprint," I hurled bricks at the television. Not really, but my house was never cleaner, I scrubbed in sheer anger.

The idiot has once again, showed himself for what he really is. Considering the fact that a named storm has already occured, I think those of us in the danger zones need to think in advance of how we may keep in touch if something happens this summer. Since we have many that contribute to my blog, we might be able to use it as a hub.

I do have The Democratic Daily to use as a go between. Pamela can pass on info if something was to happen. But since we have so many that are in the way of harm, maybe we should plan to have a way to keep in touch. Any suggestions?

Right now we have 220 raging forest fires in Florida. Smoke fills the air. We used to have a National Guard to help people evacuate and they also moved equipment around the state. Not now.

This President represents no one but himself. He is a flaming boil on the soul of this country.

Or maybe just the Chief Weapon himself?

Hail to the Chief!

Your frustration and anger come through loud and clear in this post, and I agree with you 100%. The choir appreciates what you are preaching. (Sorry for the overtly religious analogy)

Keep it up Jood!

Excuse me while I go throw up.

Donnie, that's a very good idea. Yours could be a central location, and we could just check in.

Peacechick, the fire that started yesterday on Catalina Island is still going - I can hear the helicopters. And it's been insanely hot here, way too early for this level of heat. But today Bush says "We'll succeed in Iraq." He does not give a shit about us.

Kvatch, that's true: the other Weapon of Mass Destruction has his office in the Old Executive Office Building. That would be Dickhead Cheney.

Intrepid, if you think I sound angry now, you should have seen me in Montreal with my cousins and brother. This administration has to go, Congress HAS to impeach them.
