more container gardening

I cut some of my baby lettuces for a salad tonight -- oh, it was tasty. They're small, and great fresh flavor, not from a grocery store, just yummy. With some pignola, dried cranberries, goat cheese, and rasberry vinagrette -- just as simple a salad as it gets, and it made me so happy. Simple things, really. Also noticed my container tomaters have buds! I'm just stoked!

What's the best thing in your garden?

No gardening this year (container garden) because we are in the process of renovating the deck/porch/screen room. But the best thing that I grew in containers and would do again is two things : mesclun (a mix of young greens that make fabulous salads) and corn salad. It grows like weed, and again makes wonderful salads, sandwiches, etc. I ate the stuff faster than it grew. Next best thing for me : cherry tomatoes.

I love a simple salad like that. I had a delicious salad that was baby greens, chilled and cooked asparagus, pomegrante seeds, calamata olives, hearts of palm, crumbled blue cheese and a white wine balsamic vinegarette. Okay, maybe it was a little complicated but it was yummy and would go great with those greens you're growing.

My mom took grape tomatoes, cut them in half and tossed them into a pot with potting soil and grew a bumper crop of grape tomatoes right on her porch.

Karena, you're loaded with antioxidents! That's good -- but I forget, are you pre, or post-pregnant?>

I'm peri-pregnant, a condition not yet fully acknowledged by the US government. It requires a lot of vitamins!
