NBA or NFL?

36 have been accused of spousal abuse

7 have been arrested for fraud

19 have been accused of writing bad checks

117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses

3 have done time for assault

71,repeat 71, cannot get a credit card due to bad credit

14 have been arrested on drug-related charges

8 have been arrested for shoplifting

21 currently are defendants in lawsuits, and

84 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year

Can you guess which organization this is? NBA? NFL?

Neither, it's the 535 members of the United States Congress. The same group of idiots that crank out hundreds of new laws each year designed to keep the rest of us in line.

awesome set up and punchline. disgraceful, although a lot of those charges are probably politically motivated. nonetheless, point taken.

Beautiful granddaughter!

Is there a breakdown by party?

Hi Dr. Charles -- thanks. I'm not sure how many of the charges are politically motivated, but oh, my god, they are scary people.

Yoga, thank you! I adore her. She's also very playful. And no, I don't have a breakdown by party, wish I did, because I think they're all going to be Right Wing Nuts.

OMFG.... these numbers are outta this frickin world. Jeebus, I have to be randomly drug tested 4 times a yr, plus pass my annual background check to be a pre-school teacher. And these freaks get to make laws & decide America's future with numbers like that?

Tina, it's a little outrageous, n'est pas?

Wow, where did these statistics come from? I believe them, but I wonder what the source is. Thanks for posting this!

Sigrid, I admit to being somewhat irresponsible because I don't know where the stats came from. But it struck me as a pretty good joke, plausible and probably fairly close to the truth. So up it went.
