How to find peace
Moshe Dayan was a warrior to his death. But he played an important role in creating the peace agreement between Israel and Egypt following the Six Day War. His statement above is the key to peace. Let cooler heads prevail.
I found this image over at Glenda's blog. Thanks Glenda!
I once had an opportunity to sit in a small room with a few other students and hear Moshe Dayan speak. I don't remember why he came to Eugene, Oregon but he did, and I went to hear him. He was a compelling speaker. I love this quote of his very much. I think what scares me most right now is that the world seems full of mediocre leaders. There are no giant profound thinkers. Just small-minded angry men, with below-average intelligence, and itchy trigger fingers. The world has been handed to frat boys, oil men, terrorists, and Kim Jong Il (I don't even know how to describe him).
Yoga, Moshe Dayan was a man of intellect and charisma. (He was invited to my wedding, but could not attend. He was a friend of a friend.) Ariel Sharon said of Dayan: He would wake up each day with 100 ideas; 95 were dangerous; three were sort of okay; but two were always brilliant and those would be the ones pursued. I met Dayan on my Kibbutz. He was amazing. And yes, handsome like Yul Brynner.
Sumo, I just read that article at The Washington Note, thank you for the tip. Interesting blogger. I believe Israel is acting alone rather than with the US's support because the news in Israel indicates that they think Bush's incompetency is a liability. But this guys' take on Olmert is quite insightful. Without the Military chops, Olmert is like an adolescent trying to prove he's a man. The cost is too much, though.

I remember him...I thought he was so handsome in a Yul Brenner kind of way. He makes GWB look and sound so stupid.
Check this out...I think you'll find it very interesting.

Sumo, I will have to click on the link later, I have limited capacity and some things are just not working.
Robin Andrea, you are so right - the positions of leadership are populated by small, angry minds. We are in really deep trouble.
Robin, you're trash talkin' my boy!
I don't remember Moshe Dayan. Was he a man of intellect or a two bit punk in a cowboy hat?

Wish that I could have met him.
