December 10: Global Day to Stop Rape in Darfur

Big hat tip to Betmo about this action for global action: On December 10, 2006 - International Human Rights Day - join the global day of action and write in white to stop rape in Darfur. Write in White is a December 10th action encouraging U.S. activists to wear white, a universal color of mourning, and stand in solidarity with protesters worldwide and the survivors of rape in Darfur. Activists will be encouraged to host events and write letters on that day to help end the use of rape a weapon of war in Darfur.

The conflict in Darfur, Sudan, has generated some of the worst crimes against humanity imaginable: systematic murder, rape, kidnapping, and displacement. Civilians have been murdered by both deliberate and indiscriminate actions; millions have been displaced; hundreds of thousands have been "disappeared." In recent months, the violence has escalated, and the government of Sudan is resisiting the UN Security Council's mandated peacekeeping operation. Yet not one single person responsible for war crimes in Darfur has been brought to justice.

So write in white. It's a small thing, but a lot of small, global actions can make change.

I heard Rush on the radio the other day asking the question, "How does Darfur have anything to do with vital interests of the Nation?" Seems to me there would be nothing that could help us more right now than to prove we don't always act in our self interest alone.

what's happening there is the very thing our militarty should and could do something about if we weren't mired down in Iraq.

I agree with POP. There are soooo many things that the "war costs" could go to and help immensely.

Thanks for checking up on me Diva... all is well w/me and Baby to Be... except BabyGirl has had a mysterious fever since Sunday evening. We see the pediatrician first thing Weds morning. I cannot stand it when lil ones are sick. It simply breaks my heart.
In regard to Frederick's comment, I would pay damn good money if someone would ask that fat, greasy, drug addict Rush this question:
"How does a self bloated vainglorious handjob like you have anything to do with the vital interests of our nation?"

Frederick, once again, I am grateful to anyone who has the fortitude to listen to that slimy sack of shit. Oh, right, Rush. There's no OIL in Darfur. Of course it doesn't have anything to do with our government.

POP & Sumo, I'm not sure we would have gotten into Darfur to help even without the illegal war in Iraq. There's no oil in Darfur, so this government wouldn't pay attention.

Tina, glad to hear you and BTB are well. And I know what you mean about fevers and little ones. I hope Baby Girl mends quickly. Give her a hug from auntie Jood. And as for your remark about Rush Limpdick, yep.

Betmo, ditto.

WOW....I have a solution- let's send Rush to Darfur...let him tempt fate on their own soil- and go there and tell them that they are not worth- it would be a One Way ticket- what a poor excuse for living breathing life mass.

Betmo and you deserve our thanks for remembering the need for protecting human rights and dignity....and honoring the loss of such in any region...funny the MSM didn't even mention it...
