Friday Grandbaby Blogging

At the Nature Museum in Chicago, they have a section that teaches about rivers and streams. Beanie loves this section, because there are boats to play with, and wheels to turn, and buttons to press. More important, there is actual water to stick her fingers into and splash around.

Elmo wants to know what's for dinner, so Beanie reads the menu to him.

And when I called my daughter yesterday, she put me on speaker phone so Beanie could hear. I said "Hi Beanie, say hi to Gramma" and SHE said "ah-em" which is her word for Elmo, and apparently for me as well. My eyes welled up with tears of joy.

I am now accepting photos for December 16th's Good Planets gallery: all nature-based photos, can include people in nature.

Is it my imagination or is she growing up? She's such a cute little thing and looks so serious reading that menu.

I would say you are in good company if you and elmo share the same word name.

Have a grand and wonderful weekend :)

You're so lucky...I know she'll get cuter...but this age is so wonderful...if they could only stay this age a little longer.

I'll bet you never in your wildest dreams thought you would be Granma Elmo! Very happy association, I would say. I still say the cuties hair would be in a Renoir painting if he were around today.

Don't you just love to see little ones caring for their dolls and stuffed animals - putting them to sleep, feeding them, reading to them, loving them? So little, yet they've been loved so much that they want to love and take care of things smaller than themselves.

Pop, she is growing quite rapidly! And now her new favorite word is Nemo!

Robin Andrea, she was so intently reading to Elmo (and Jelly Cat, not visible in the photo) that it was really funny.

Sumo, this age IS the best. I sometimes wish I lived there. But then my daughter tells me the weather report, and it's not so much.

PC Mary, I am thrilled to be Gamma Elmo. It's just fine with me. And the more I look at her hair, the more I see the Renoir association!

Alicia, yes, she's really good about caring for her dolls and animals. I love when she puts Elmo into the toy umbrella stroller and jogs through the hallway. How's the book?
