Let's Go Surfing

Ya'll watch YouTube, right? I know I log in and watch stuff. It's fun. All the kids do it.A federal judge has ordered Google to turn over to Viacom its records of which users watched which videos on YouTube, the Web’s largest video site by far.
For every video on YouTube, the judge required Google to turn over to Viacom the login name of every user who had watched it, and the address of their computer, known as an I.P. or Internet protocol address.
Not that I am paranoid, but Big Brother can access everything from our dental records to what kind of hair color we might use. And the internets provide access to every keystroke.

Who do we email? Who do we chat with? What are we researching? What do we read? What do we purchase? What do we watch? Where do we go? Computers store this information forever, and it is quite easily subpoened. Time to support the Electronic Frontier Foundation, who have been at the forefront of Electronic Rights and our best line of defense. Because I don't want Viacom to have my information, for any reason.

I'm gonna go back in time...when a local University football team decided they had no use for a slow, 185lb linebacker, who was just OK at best and he joined a different team ... www.wfu.edu/NDT..

..and the topic was

1971-1972
RESOLVED: "That greater controls should be imposed on the gathering and utilization of information about United States citizens by government agencies."

It was a concern then and it should be a concern now. Why it isn't a BIG concern, really, really concerns ME!

There is a limit! You can make an argument that those responsible for security should know what the threats are but delving in on things like this if beyond paranoia and total control. There is no way in hell it should be allowed. However the chief scum is the sole decider, beyond reproach, and the SOB can do what he wants! It isn't so much the tools but the hands on the tool. That scum will abuse every tool in his hands and he does!

okjimm, it's sort of like putting a frog in cold water, raising the temp slowly, and then the frog has been cooked to death without a protest. That's what happens, in a slow erosion of freedom and slow increase in surveilance techniques. It is of tremendous concern.

Jim, it's not just the White House behind this. This is a lawsuit Viacom has brought against Google and YouTube. But the suit has far-reaching implications.

Similarly: Facts About Facebook

I'm an enthusiastic Facebook user, but the information in this video scares the beejeebers out of me. Must I quit? What is happening to us?

This thread addresses a very timely and important topic.

Oh I am afraid to watch Border Explorer's link!

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

(p.s. Can I be your Facebook friend? Oops, my split personality is showing.)

Will I catch you in the net I'm caught in, that I don't know about, yet? Kafka, anyone?

Who do we email? Dear president@whitehouse.gov, you're the best!

Who do we chat with? No, Rep. Foley, I will not tell you what I'm wearing.

What are we researching? How to pollute the planet while making a quick buck.

What do we read? The Fountainhead.

What do we purchase? Lead-laced toys from China.

What do we watch? Fox News!

Where do we go? To big cities to bash homersexuals.

See, I've got nothing to hide. Obviously, you all do.

Border Explorer, I am challenged by facebook. What does it do? Besides track our very existence, I mean.

FranIAm, I'm afraid every time I type.

Utah, that's odd. This morning, I woke up and was a 5'3 1/2" Lady Bug.

Maria, I guess the numbers are that we'll all wind up in the same holding cell or something.

Randal, this is exactly why I want you to manage my campaign for Diva President.

I'm so there.

Randal, I'm relieved.

I guess I'm double screwed. Not only have I watched thousands of videos but I've uploaded at least a hundred.

Gawd! This big brother thing is spiraled out of control. Seriously though, how in the hell could they possibly track every internet users internets activity?

Hidey Ho Homeland Security~ How's it Hangin'? If you want a tip about criminal activity-- check the White House.

Agi, there is a cell at Gitmo with your name on it. Really. Spiro Agnew...

Fran, hasn't it though? I mean, really. It's clear, Homeland Security has no life. They live vicariously by tracking ours.
