I have been tagged

I have been tagged by The Fat Lady Sings with a book meme. The plan:

1. Grab the book closest to you.
2. Open to page 123, go down to the fifth sentence.
3. Post the text of next 3 sentences on your blog.
4. Name of the book and the author.
5. Tag three people.

I'm always curious about memes, and here I am at work, with a ton of work related travel brochures, but oddly, the book closest to me is a novel.

page 123, beginning with the sixth sentence (which comes after the fifth on the page, oddly) here are the three sentences:

Sal.
Her voice was wide awake. Yes, Will?
That bit of land, he said.

The book, The Secret River, was written by Kate Grenville and is a historical novel about convict settlers of Australia.

And I hereby tag:
Morning Martini's Pissed off Patricia

Knock Knock's very own Peacechick Mary

The Gay Agenda's Pursey Tutweiler

POP, it was a challenge to not pull out a travel brochure!

Pursey, tell me: does Lola read?

Lola does read, usually she sounds the words out with her lips and mouth, but she does read. It may be a script, but I think she calls those books. She is reading at a 7th grade or higher level since she hired her coach back in the 70s.

Talking about reading, and since you seem to be a sort of Australia freak, you should do yourself a favour and read "Fatal Shore" by Robert Hughes! The damn thing has a gazillion pages but if you have even one yawn while reading it, I will give your money back.

Pekka,
You are such a sweet darling. I will buy this book based on your recommendation.

Will isn't much of a talker is he?

Pursey, I thank you for the update on Lola's reading capacity. I wasn't sure.

Pekka, I'm a Premier Level Aussie Specialist, not a freak. This means I am quite house-broken, and can be seen in public without too much embarrassment to the people I am with. And I have read "Fatal Shore." A gazillion pages? Oh, I'd say a few more. But yes, it is compelling reading.

Sumo, I just spewed my morning tea.

Sorry, Diva, but reading a gazillion plus pages of Australian history, places you squarely in the land of freaks! -;)
