We Interrupt This Blog for the 2008 All-Star Game

I predict Chicago Cubs 8, American League 3. Why, Diva! Are you not going way out on a limb? And it's the National League vs. the American League after all.

Well, my friends and scoffers, the roster says otherwise. There were three Cubs named to the starting lineup: Geovany Soto, Kosuske Fukudome and Alfonso Soriano but he won't play, he's injured. Then, there are four Chicago Cubs on the pitching roster: the adorable Ryan Dempster; darling Carlos Marmol; be still, my heart, Carlos Zambrano; and the hunky Kerry Wood. And THEN rounding out the reserves: Aramis Ramirez (I love you, Aramis). So there. Chicago Cubs, 8, American League 3 - and I am being generous.

Not like the Cubs will be around long enough in October to use the home-field advantage. ;-)

Oh, you are evil and cruel. See if I let you fly business class on my group to Paris...

okjimm, I have to focus on the important things in life: marrying Russ Feingold, and the Chicago Cubs, and art, and films, and Alan Rickman.

Fine! See if I manage your presidential campaign anymore. Hmph.

Randal, I need you to manage my campaign. But you have to be kinder to my Cubs, or I will make you fly on Air Force 2.

Spoken like a true Cubs fan. You know someone who's from Chicago who clings to the hopes that the Cubs will win a post season series (but the Braves are no good this year to beat). And someone whois absolutely prepared for disappointment when it arrives because when it gets down to it we all are Bears fans anyway.

Signed - mathman a Chicago White Sox who is in the same boat with you.

PS too bad your team didn't get CC (he's my fantasy team's ace along with Zambrano) but Hardin is good, too. Right Randal?

Ah, Mathman, between you, Randal and Mary Ellen (another White Sox fan) I am deeply crushed. But, didn't Bears training camp start?

Diva - I didn't mean to crush you. I am sorry about that. I bet Bears camp starts soon. I saw your homesick comment some where else and I am with you on that... I sometimes think that maybe we should high tail it back north. But it's funny my job is good here and it would be tough to duplicate that in Illinois.

I need a Team-B. The L.A. Dodgers are closer to 1st place than they are to .500! We'll trade Andruw Jones to anyone for an ash bat.

Mathman, I get it - and for me, it's about the weather. If Chicago had Los Angeles's weather, I'd be back there in a heartbeat. And as for me being crushed - kidding. However, I turned off the game last night when they were still tied 3-3 in the 1,000,000 inning. Who won?

Vig, I only go to the Dodgers games when the Cubs are in town. Cannot bring myself to switch alligiences. Give me Kerry Wood any day of the week. Really, I worship at the church of baseball.

I stayed up and tried to watch the game. I dozed off in the 15th and woke up with men on 1st and 2nd. Of course the AL won. Now we can get on with the season. BTW I linked you. s

Mathman, well, there goes my home field advantage. Yikes. As a White Sox Fan, you must be dancing a jig.

I won't be dancing a jig until they win the World Series again and if they don't get there I will be quietly rooting for the Cubs, they are a good baseball team and fun to watch.

What's the difference between a Chicago Cub's hot dog and a Chicago White Sox hot dog? You can get a Chicago White Sox hot dog in October.
;-)

Never predict a baseball game, it will bite you in the ass every time!

Mathman, they are good this year, for sure.

Mary Ellen, that's cruel. Hilarious, but cruel. I don't think I've ever had a hot dog come October...

Some vicious people hangin' round these parts!:)

I had a whole piece of paper with nothing on it except "ALL STAR GAME!!" in caps and 36 pt font, taped to my monitor where I couldn't possibly miss it, Tuesday morning.

When I stumbled in here at midnight to shut my puter off after helping my wife pack for a trip all night....(:

Never mind there is two VCR's in the house, and a DVR on my computer. Oh No! That's too much like planning ahead!!

I'm almost done cussing...(:

Will this be the year for your beloved Cubs? Boston did the impossible....came back from three down against the Yanks and walked off Champions.....dreams do come true!!!!
